Candle Care & Burn Guide
Following these simple steps helps your candle burn more cleanly, safely, and evenly.
First Burn Matters
On the first burn, allow the candle to melt across the full surface (edge to edge) before extinguishing. This helps prevent tunnelling and sets the candle up for an even burn going forward.
Trim the Wick
Trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6mm) before each burn. A trimmed wick helps reduce soot, improves burn quality, and supports a steadier flame.
Burn Time
For best results, burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time. Avoid burning for longer than 4 hours in one session.
Extinguishing
Extinguish the candle carefully. Avoid blowing hard, as this can cause smoke and wax splatter. If possible, use a snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten it.
Keep the Wax Pool Clean
Keep the wax free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris. This helps ensure a cleaner burn.
Re-lighting
If the wick becomes too long, off-centre, or develops a carbon “mushroom,” extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, trim the wick, and then re-light.
Storage
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This helps preserve colour, scent, and burn performance.
Candle Safety
Always burn within sight. Keep away from drafts, children, pets, and anything flammable. Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Stop use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains.
